Jayoung Jeong (SARC General Director/ Mighty Orlando)

Soprano Jayoung Jeong graduated from Ewha Womans University with a major in Vocal Music in Korea. After graduating, she studied the opera and religious music at Giovacchio Forzano Academia in Italy and Opava Conservatory in the Czech Republic and completed her Ph.D. course in Performing Arts at Kookmin University. She has been performing high-quality music with passionate expression and rich voice. She made her debut with the Magic Flute in the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Pstrava in the Czech Repuplic and performed many operas including Gianni Schicchi, The Marriage of Figaro, Hansel and Gretel, Dido and Aeneas, and Cavalleria Rusticana. She also performed as a soloist in several performances such as Beethoven Chorus Symphony, Verdi Requiem, Dvorak Stabat Marter, and so on. In addition, she established ‘Singing Actors’ with Byungkoo Ahn in 2012 and expanded the scope of her activities as a performance planner and producer. ‘Singing Actors’ are developing various types of musical plays with the aim of achieving high performances with high-quality vocals and acting by utilizing the strengths of operas and plays. In particular, ‘Singing Actors’ with the contents ‘Musical Vignette’, which was developed by blending art lyric and visual technique vignette, was invited to the Spoleto festival founded by Gian Carlo Menotti, confirming artistry and originality. Currently, she has been an official member of the vocal music association of Ewha Womans University and has been conducting in-depth research on vocal music. She also served as an instructor at Ewha Womans University and Korea National University of Arts and has been teaching students at Kookmin University as an adjunct professor.
